Prohibitory orders in Bantwal taluk

The Government has imposed prohibitory orders in Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada till Monday, following some violent incident on Sunday.

The incident began during a volleyball match at a school ground at Modankaup in Bantwal taluk.

Assault

Police sources said that owing to some differences the two teams, two players of a particular community were assaulted by members of another community.

As the news of this incident spread, the two boys of the opposite community were assaulted at Kaikamba Junction at B.C. Road, later. At the same time, some miscreants threw stones at two shops at B C Road. The glass of an autorickshaw and a lorry were broken in the stone throwing, police said. Following these incidents, the district administration clamped prohibitory orders in the taluk under Section 144 of the CPC.

Situation normal

According to A.S. Rao, Superintendent of Police, situation was normal at B.C. Road and Bantwal late on Sunday evening. Additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive areas.
