Poll code violation: Ramanath Rai booked

Minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada B. Ramanath Rai was booked on Friday for an alleged violation of model code of conduct in Bantwal on Thursday.

According to the Election Commission, Mr. Rai held an official meeting in Bantwal on Thursday without taking permission of the Commission.

Complaint

According to a complaint filed by the Returning Officer for Bantwal Assembly Constituency, Ravi Basarihalli, Mr. Rai, also the Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology, chaired a meeting in Pallemogaru near Bantwal. The complaint was filed after video recording of the meeting.

The Bantwal Town police registered the complaint under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by the public servant).
