Policeman arrested

Rajesh, a probationary police constable attached to the Mangalore rural police, has been arrested on Friday on charges of forging the signature of sub-inspector of the station, Prakash.

It was discovered on Friday by the officials at the Superintendent's office that the accused had forged the signature in the passport application documents of two persons.

He was charged under sections 409 (criminal breach by a public servant) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal code and produced before a local court which remanded him to police custody. Investigations are on to find out if any more such forgeries were committed by the accused.
