Police seize 10.25 kg ganja, motorcycle

The police on Wednesday seized 10.25 kg ganja and a two-wheeler used to transport the contraband by two accused persons. However, the accused managed to escape during the police raid.

A communiqué here said that the Assistant Commissioner of Police (South) got information that Mohammed Aziz alias Abdul Aziz and Mohammed Imtiyaz were on a two-wheeler selling the contraband around Nettilapadavu, on the Karnataka-Kerala border.

Immediately, he sent personnel from the Rowdy Squad and Konaje Police to arrest the accused. While the police were able to seize the vehicle and the contraband, together worth ₹ 1.6 lakh at Kallarkodi, the accused fled the scene.

While Aziz (34), a resident of Towdugoli, was a habitual drug peddler, Imtiyaz (26), a resident of Talapady, has many cases registered against him in Ullal and Konaje police stations, the police said.

Konaje police have registered a case.
