Police register case suo motu followingFB post by girl

Taking note of a Facebook post by a girl saying that she was being stalked by a youth, the police have suo motu registered a case based on the registration number of the two-wheeler used by the youth.

The post on the incident that reportedly took place on Light House Hill Road here on June 25 has gone viral on the social media.

Police Commissioner T.R. Suresh has ordered the woman police to register a case under Sections 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code.

In her post, Rashmi Shetty, a native of the city and a student of a college in Bihar, said that the two-wheeler rider stalked her while she was walking down from St. Aloysius College towards Balmatta. As the rider stopped his vehicle at the Balmatta bus stop, the girl photographed the two-wheeler.

She posted the photograph on Facebook and said, “You thought I’d be scared, didn’t you? You thought I’d be ashamed, didn’t you?”

She further said, “This is a message from all the strong girls to you and your likes; if you try curtailing our freedom, we will fight back.” The woman police are searching for the two-wheeler rider.
