Home Minister K.J. George said Police Establishment Board has to take decision on transfer of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Mangalore South) T.R. Jagannath, who is facing allegations of sexually and mentally harassing a woman Assistant Sub Inspector. The decision of the PEB will be based on the findings of the nine-member inquiry committee.
“We cannot fix a timeframe. But I will ask Police Commissioner to write to the committee to complete the inquiry at the earliest.” Earlier, Mr. George told a delegation of women activists who met him at the Circuit House that he would ask the Police Commissioner to continue leave of Mr. Jagannath till the inquiry is completed.
On the lack of security on trains on the Konkan Railway route where many thefts are reported, Mr. George said he would take up before Union Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge the need to allow railway police operate on Mangalore-Karwar route.
Mr. George said the government had sought from the High Court name of a retired judge who can head the State Complaint Authority. A meeting will be held on Friday to discuss extending the time of closure of bars beyond 11.30 p.m., live bands and video parlours.
Church attacks case
He said a decision on re-investigating cases related to church attacks would be taken after studying the Justice Somasekhara Commission report, which is yet to be placed before the Assembly.
