Pension Adalat

A pension adalat will be held in the office of the Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Mangaluru Division, Balmatta, on December 15 at 4 p.m. Pensioners drawing pension from post offices coming under the division can send their grievances and suggestions by December 12 and they will be taken up during the Adalat, a release said.

State-level sports meet

The three-day State-level Under-17 Athletics Meet began at the Swaraj Maidan in Moodbidri on Sunday. As many as 34 teams are participating in the athletics meet organised jointly by the Dakshina Kannada Public Education Department, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports and the Alva’s Secondary School, Puttige. Minister of Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader and Minister of State for Youth Empowerment K. Abhayachandra Jain flagged off the event on Sunday.

Annual conference

Two-day semi-annual conference of Toastmasters District 92 was held at the Hotel Ocean Pearl on November 21 and 22. As many as 400 delegates from 147 clubs of District 92 from Karnataka and Kerala participated in the conference. Speech competitions, educational and entertainment programmes were held during the two days.

New public toilet

The Mangalore Round Table 115 and Mangalore Ladies Circle 82 have constructed a new public toilet at the Shivarama Karanth Nisargadhama in Pilikula at a cost of Rs. 5 lakh. This was handed over to the Nisargadhama authorities on Saturday. The two organisations have executed 24 projects worth Rs. 11.43 lakh, donating refrigerators, water purifier units, computers and books to different schools in November, a release said.
