Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswami of Sri Sringeri Shankara Peetam on Saturday said that the mutt will always remain above politics. At the same time, politicians, irrespective of their ideologies, will receive the blessings of the mutt only to help them live up to people’s expectations.
The swami was delivering the anugraha bhashana at a civic reception hosted for him and his junior Sri Vidhushekhara Tirtha Swami at the mutt’s branch in Kotekar here. Sri Bharati Tirtha also said that the mutt did not seek any favours from politicians or the administration.
The mutt has been continuing the tradition of bringing scholars to head the peetam; and Sri Vidhushekhara Tirtha was brought as his successor keeping that tradition in view, he said.
Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade, who was congratulated by the swami for being conferred the Padma Vibhushan, hailed the contribution of the swamis and the peetam to strengthening Sanatana Dharma.
