Organisations condemn attack on journalists

March 04, 2012 12:45 pm | Updated 12:45 pm IST - MANGALORE:

Various organisations staged demonstrations here on Saturday condemning the attack by a section of advocates on media persons in Bangalore on Friday.

Members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) led by district unit secretary B. Madhava staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

Mr. Madhava said the State government was delaying action against errant advocates, and therefore set up a judicial commission.

Members of the CPI(M) Vasanta Achari and Sunil Kumar Bajal spoke.

Demonstrations were staged by activists of the Congress and the Socialist Democratic Party of India. A protest march was taken out from Clock Tower to the office of the Deputy Commissioner. People's Union for Civil Liberties has condemned the incident.
