‘Offices complex to be opened in November'

September 26, 2011 02:37 pm | Updated 02:37 pm IST - Udupi:

MLA Raghupati Bhat has said that District Offices Complex being constructed at the End Point area in Manipal would be inaugurated either on November 10 or 15.

Participating in an interaction programme organised by the Udupi Consumers' Forum, Mr. Bhat said the District Offices Complex would bring most of the Government departments under a single roof. Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda would inaugurate the complex.

Although Rs. 19.8 crore was originally allotted for the construction, it overshot the project cost, and an additional amount of Rs. 7.65 crore was released for it. Mr. Gowda had released Rs. 2 crore for the furniture.

Route permits were being given to city buses so that they could ply up to the complex. Although Rs. 2 crore was released a year ago to build a jetty at the St. Mary's Island, its construction could not be taken up because of problems arising from the Coastal Regulation Zone norms.

Rs. 7.5 crore had been released to construct footpath for the Adi-Udupi-Kalsank road, Mr. Bhat said.
