A 24-year-woman was murdered allegedly by her husband at a community health centre in Moodbidri on Wednesday night.

The police said that the victim, Jayanti (24), had given birth at the community health centre on Monday. Her husband, Jayanth, came to the centre on Wednesday night saying that he wanted to give fruits but he took out a sickle and slit his wife’s neck, further running out of the centre. The police said that Jayanti died on the spot. Her child was injured on its hand. The two were married five months ago. Jayanth worked in a garage in Mangalore while Jayanti rolled beedis. The relationship between the two strained following marriage. The police said they were yet to trace Jayanth.
