A memo has been issued to conduct an enquiry against a nurse from a government hospital in Bantwal as she asked a patient to get a syringe for an injection.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader said, “The nurse will be transferred to rural area, as punishment.”

He said it is the duty of the hospital’s management to keep a stock of needles. Funds are not a problem and the government spends Rs. 5 crore for healthcare. If there are no needles, the staff should inform the District Health Officer (DHO) or buy some themselves. “It is the duty of the District Medical Officer,” he said.
