Now, get case status on touchscreen kiosks

January 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - MANGALURU:

People wanting to know the status of a case, pending in a court in Mangaluru or any other part of the district, need to head to the kiosk installed near the Principal District and Sessions Court on the first floor of the new District Court Complex.

One should just enter the case number and the relevant details will appear on the screen. Cases can also be searched via the FIR number, the Criminal Case number, the Sessions case number or the party name.

People can also know about the orders that have been passed and the status of the application for a copy of an order.

Apart from the courts in the district, the kiosk can be used to get an update of cases pending in the Karnataka High Court. The kiosk before the Principal District Court has been working for the past one week and the other kiosk, installed on the ground floor of the new District Court complex, is yet to start.

The installation of the kiosk is a part of the Karnataka judiciary initiative to provide information about the cases at the click of a button.

Principal District and Sessions Judge Uma M.G. said the dates of adjournments or any other orders passed by the court are updated immediately. “Just as I pass the order, the file goes to the typist, who immediately uploads the information,” the judge said. The judge said there will be delay when the cases are too many.

There were some technical glitches in providing court information from Dakshina Kannada on the District Court link of the website karnatakajudiciary.kar.nic.in.
