As part of its business promotion drive, New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), in association with Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, organised a trade meet in Mysore on Wednesday.
NMPT officials briefed importers and exporters from Karnataka, especially from the Mysore region where a large volume of containerised cargo is being generated, about the latest developments and infrastructure in the port, according to a press release issued here on Thursday.
The release said that exporters and importers of commodities such as coffee, textiles, garments and gherkins, and senior officials from the Railways and container mainline operators attended the meet. They had an interaction on handling of cargo through the port. H.D. Raghavendra, president of the Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, urged the importers and exporters to utilise the “Gateway Port of Karnataka – The New Mangalore Port,” the release said.
T.S.N. Murthy, Deputy Chairman of NMPT, spoke about the industrial scenario in the State, especially in the Mysore region, and connectivity to the port. P. Tamilvanan, Chairman of NMPT, spoke.
S. Gopalakrishna, Traffic Manager, NMPT, was among those present.
