Cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) heard bombs exploding thrice in a high-rise building on the premises of the Karnataka Polytechnic here during a mock demonstration on Friday.

Soon there was a commotion inside the building. Fire and Emergency Services and Home Guards personnel rushed to the building for rescue operations and shifted the injured cadets to hospitals. As there was panic, some cadets in the building went to the terrace of the building hoping that they could save themselves. According to the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada S.A. Prabhakar Sharma, the demonstration had been organised on a direction by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Delhi.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel demonstrated how to cut window grills using hydraulic cutters and how to cut trees using a chain saw.
