More Air India flights from Mangalore likely

Air India may introduce flight services between Mangalore and Pune, Delhi and Hubli via Bangalore, according to Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP.

He told presspersons here on Thursday that the proposed Mangalore-Bangalore-Delhi and Mangalore-Bangalore-Pune flights were likely to start soon. The new sectors have been chosen as they were found viable in view of the significant passenger traffic between Mangalore and Bangalore; Bangalore and Pune and Bangalore and Delhi.

It will also help break the monopoly of private airlines between Mangalore and Bangalore.

The airline has proposed to introduce a Boeing aircraft to Pune and Delhi, while for Hubli it is likely to be a chartered flight.
