Monsoon marathon on August 15

The theme of the event is ‘unity'

Sri Bhootanatheshwara Cross Country Monsoon Marathon organised by the Shasthavu Sri Bhoothanatheshawara Temple, Badaga Yedapadavu, Mijar, will be held in and around the temple neighbourhood on August 15.

Cash prizes totalling over Rs. 7 lakhs in eight categories for men, women, and children will be disbursed to the winners of the marathon organised by the temple, in association with Sri Bhoothanatheshawara Bhajana Mandali, a release said.

Separate events will be held for men and women in the following categories namely professionals half marathon (21 kilometres, for all ages), professionals half marathon (6 kilometres, for children below 16 years), “halli marathon” (4 kilometres, for children below 14 years), “halli marathon” (6 kilometres, for children of 14 to 16 years), “halli marathon” (10 kilometres, for 16 to 50 years), district-level “halli marathon” (10 kilometres, for 16 to 50 years), senior citizens marathon (10 kilometres, for 50 to 60 years), and senior citizens marathon (6 kilometres, for those above 60 years). There are multiple prizes in all categories with the highest being Rs. 50,000 for the first prize winner of professionals' half marathon.

Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, the Chief Co-ordinator of the event said the organisers wanted people to come out of their homes and celebrate the monsoon season.
