Missing boy traced to KSRTC bus

July 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - MANGALURU:

Working closely with a KSRTC bus driver and conductor, the Puttur Town police acted swiftly to trace a 15-year-old boy on Saturday.

On Friday evening, parents of the boy filed a complaint with the Puttur Town police that they have not been able to trace their son since he left the house on Friday morning. They also said that their son had not gone to the school.

The Puttur Town Police tracked the boy’s mobile phone and got to know of his movement in a vehicle towards Bengaluru.

They contacted the Mangaluru KSRTC officials and found that there were two buses moving towards Bengaluru.

The police called the conductors of the two buses and found that the boy was travelling in the Mangaluru-Bengaluru-Chennai Airavata bus. The conductor Nandagopal and drivers Walter D’Souza and Anand Biradar were asked to keep a watch on the boy and hand him over to boy’s relative in Bengaluru.

The police then contacted boy’s parents and asked them to send their relatives to Kempegowda bus station and receive the boy. Accordingly the boy was received on Saturday morning and he was brought back to Puttur in the evening.

Commending the work of Puttur Town Police, Superintendent of Police Sharanappa S.D. said more impetus was being given to trace missing children and elderly person as a part of Operation Muskan, a nation wide drive launched since July 1.

“We are focussing on tracing children and elderly persons are missing for several days,” he said. The boy had reportedly left home unable to bear the pressure from parents to study hard.
