Work on Mahatma Gandhi Garden — where the Indira Glass House is located — will be completed in 8 to 10 months, Jagadish Shettar, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, has said.
The total cost of the project was Rs. 5 crore, he said, after inspecting the work along with Deputy Commissioner Darpan Jain on Sunday.
The Minister said that to ensure proper maintenance of the park, an entrance fee would be charged. The Minister said the survey for the development of a four-lane road between Hubli and Dharwad was complete.
Project fund
While the Union Government had sanctioned Rs. 100 crore for the project, the State had allocated only Rs. 50 crore in its recent budget. Work would begin once the modalities were completed, he said.
Mr. Shettar also inspected work on the Link road between Indi Pump and Unakal that was taken up with the assistance of the Union Government under the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns.
Delays
He said that because of encroachment, work had been delayed on certain stretches.
The Minister said that three acres were available with the Hubli Dharwad Municipal Corporation at Heggeri and this would be utilised to develop an indoor stadium.
