Mescom engineer stabbed to death

An executive engineer of Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (Mescom) was found dead, after being allegedly stabbed by unidentified men, at his residence in Bejai here early on Sunday.

Jagadish K. (54) was found with a slit throat and stab wounds on his torso on the first floor of the house, said the Mangalore East Police. According to the complaint given by his wife Bharati, around 2.30 a.m., she was woken up by Jagadish’s screams after he was stabbed by two men who slipped out of the backdoor of the house.

Police said a neighbour attempted to chase the culpritss in vain. Jagadish was declared dead by the time he was rushed to the hospital.

Though a gold chain worth nearly Rs. 1 lakh was stolen from a table close to where Jagadish was stabbed, police are unsure about the motive of the crime.
