Mayoral election on March 12

Election to the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be conducted in the Mangaluru City Corporation office on March 12 at 11.30 a.m. The Regional Commissioner, Mysuru will conduct the election. Members of four standing committees of the council will also be elected on the same day.

PU examinations

In all, 34,794 students have applied to appear for the second year pre-university examinations in Dakshina Kannada from March 12 to March 27. There will be 52 examination centres in the district and the district has 185 pre-university colleges. Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim conducted a meeting on Tuesday to review the preparations for the smooth conduct of examinations.

Brahmakalasha at Dharmasthala

Asthabandha Brahmakalasha celebrations at Manjunatha Swamy temple at Dharmasthala will be conducted from March 12 to March 18. Asthabandha Brahmakalasha will be performed on March 18. It was being conducted once in 12 years. Various cultural programmes and health check-up camp has been organised on the occasion.

Discussion on

caste census

Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy in association with Talent Research Foundation will organise a discussion on caste census on March 5 at 3 p.m. The venue will be the premises of the foundation at Kankanady.

Yakshagana event

A programme on yakshagana and music titled ‘Yakshagana Yana Samvahana’ will be conducted by different organisations at Sharada Pre University College, Kodialbail on March 14 from 5.30 p.m. Senior Yakshagana Bhagavatar (singer) Tenkabailu Tirumaleshwara Shastri, experts on yakshagana M L Samaga and M Prabhakar Joshi and others will participate in it.
