With numerous allegations surfacing of police dereliction in taking a medical test and not filing rape charges in the kidnap and filming of forced sex between two medical students at Deralakatte, the city police have issued a clarification in their blog on Sunday.
The release has stated the victim had denied rape when she was asked by the police officer (Section 376 IPC), and even did not consent for medical examination, which is the procedure during cases of sexual harassment or assault.
“Further the complainant requested the Investigation Officer not to allow publicity for this case,” said the release.
Based on the investigation so far, the police have filed a memo to the court on January 3 to add sections of rape and gang rape (376d IPC) to the case.
The police has said that a lot of progress has been achieved in the investigation since the arrest of eight persons who are in judicial custody.
“The charge sheet will be submitted to the court well within the time frame stipulated by law against all the accused persons,” said the release.
