Mangalore Diocese plans jubilee

The Mangalore Diocese is celebrating its Post-Centenary Silver Jubilee this year by building houses and hostels for the poor, Bishop of Mangalore Aloysius Paul D'Souza said here on Monday.

Mr. D'Souza told presspersons that the diocese planned to celebrate by building 160 houses for the poor, and build two hostels for students from rural areas. It would sponsor the education for deserving students up to pre-university course.

Other activities planned include erecting a shrine in Bajpe in memory of Blessed John Paul II , and setting up a museum on Mother Mary at Rosario Cathedral.

The cost of these projects is estimated at Rs. 8 crore, he said.
