Minor accused of sexualt assault

A 15-year-old boy had been accused of sexually assaulting a 40-year-old woman in Belthangady. The police said the woman’s daughter alleged that her mother, who was mentally unsound, had been sexually assaulted by the boy, who stays near the house.

The woman said the boy was seen with her mother when she returned home on Sunday afternoon. The police said the two have been subjected to medical examination. The findings of the medical examination were necessary to proceed further in the case, the police said.

Father, daughter injured in fall

A 12-year-old girl and her 50-year-old father were injured after they fell off from the second floor of a building near Belthangady bus stand on Sunday.

According to Belthangady police, Hemachandra had come with his daughter Sevanti and his son for a check-up at a clinic on the building near the bus stand. Passers-by reportedly saw Sevanti slip while climbing towards the clinic. Her father reportedly tried to pull her back.

Both sustained injuries and were moved to a private hospital in Mangalore. The condition of the two was critical and they were under observation, the police said.

Student ends life

A 17-year-old boy from a college in Karkala in Udupi district was found hanging from the roof of his hostel room on Sunday.

The Karkala police said Vasant Gowda, a student of Jnana Sudha College, was staying in a hostel in Ganganagar. The police have found a note purportedly written by the student stating that he was sad over his performance in an examination. The police are waiting for arrival of Vasant’s parents, who are residents of Channarayapatna, to Karkala.

Suicide

A 26-year-old woman, a lecturer in a College in Moodbidri, reportedly committed suicide in her room in Moodbidri on Saturday night.

The Moodbidri police said Vanashri, a native of Alangar near Kadaba, was working in Alva’s college as lecturer for the last one year. On Saturday, she returned from the college to her room. A few hours later her roommate found that the room was locked from inside. When the room was broken open, Vanashri was found hanging from the roof of the room.

The police said they have recovered a note purportedly written by Vanashri, stating that she was sad over the recent death of her fiancé.
