The Catholic Association of South Kanara (CASK), one of the oldest Catholic citizens’ forum, will mark its centenary year with a series of programmes, including organ donation drives and distribution of student scholarships.

Addressing the press on Wednesday, Derek Lobo, president of the organisation, said the CASK, which was started in July 1914, will observe the centenary year in the spirit of charity that has governed the association for the past 99 years.

The agenda for the year includes an awareness drive to encourage people to donate blood, pledge organs; personality development programmes for 680 students of four schools; donation of at least Rs. 2,000 to around 100 economically-backward students from 25 schools for books and uniforms; at least 10 talks by eminent personalities in colleges, among others.

The Association will also release a book on 100 years of CASK, titled ‘CASK and Fellow Centurions’, on September 22. Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva, Union minister Oscar Fernandes and Mangalore South MLA J.R. Lobo are likely to attend.
