It wants the running tariff to be increased from Rs. 15 per km to Rs. 16 per km
The members of District Federation of Autorickshaw Owners and Operators Associations staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Monday demanding an increase in the ‘running tariff’ from Rs. 15 per km to Rs. 16 per km.
Balakrishna Shetty, president of Kundapur Taluk Autorickshaw Operators Association, said that the Union government kept increasing the price of petrol regularly. This had hit the autorickshaw operators hard. “If the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) did not increase the ‘running tariff’ by February 22, the federation will launch an agitation,” he said.
