The Manipal Institute of Management (MIM), in association with Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), will be conducting an eight-week certificate course from July 5 for young graduates to orient them as professional managers for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
A press release issued by Manipal University on Saturday stated that there was a great demand for trained managers in the SME sector. The course was open to all graduates. Even diploma holders in the age group of 18 to 35 could participate, he said.
The course will be conducted in two phases of four weeks each. The first phase will comprise classroom training while the next one will be on-the-job training. Classroom training will cover theoretical knowledge about operational aspects of management.
The next four-week programme will consist of practical training in pre-identified SMEs in Udupi district. The objective of this training is to develop skills to manage the operations of any enterprise.

“The emphasis will be on learning that reflects business situations. Their self-confidence will grow and consequently, they will become aware of their capabilities. The training will provide a sense of direction, whichwill help them develop a positive approach,” Dr. Achar said.
