The Konaje Police on Sunday arrested a man on the charge of inciting communal hatred through electronic media.

The police gave the name of the accused as Mohan Acharya.

Konaje police have booked cases under Sections 297, 298, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code based on a complaint from Ajith, son of Lancy D’Souza, a resident of Adka Pajiru.

The accused had allegedly put a WhatsApp status affecting religious sentiments, the complainant said.

Group attack

Meanwhile, a group of youth allegedly attacked two persons, vandalised their house and damaged a vehicle at Bajal Pakkaladka on Sunday.

The police said that complainant Afridi has accused Rakesh, Prasad, Steven, Nikhil and others of attacking two youth and vandalising the house.

An attack on a youth at a volleyball match in the locality earlier in the day is said to have triggered the group attack, the police said. Kankanadi town police have registered a case and are investigating.
