Man dies, six injured in accident in Mangalore

A 24-year-old man died, while at least six were injured after a bus collided with a car at Mittur, on the Mani-Puttur State Highway on Sunday.

According to the Vitla police, a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus, plying from Puttur to Mangalore, tried to overtake another vehicle on the two-lane road when it collided with the car.

Yusuf Noufal (24), who was driving the car, was killed and five of his family members – Zubeida, Yakub, Asfaq, Nauseena and Nafisa - suffered injuries.

The family, who reside in Padil on the outskirts of Mangalore, were travelling towards Madikeri to meet their relatives, said the police.

Meanwhile, in the bus, Tejasvi was injured and a few other passengers escaped with bruises. The police have registered a case against Pushparaj, driver of the bus.
