Man booked for posting comment on news portal

The Pandeshwar Police on Monday registered a case under the Information Technology Act, 2000, against Shriram Yedapadithaya, for allegedly posting hate comments on a Mangaluru-based news portal through his Facebook account.

Meanwhile, several Christian leaders met Police Commissioner S. Murugan and Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim and submitted a memorandum seeking action against the accused.

Daijiworld.com, the news portal on whose website the comments were posted, said that soon after coming to know about it, the “hate comment” was taken off the site.

Mr. Murugan confirmed to The Hindu that a case has been registered.

The Cyber Crime Police in Bengaluru have also been informed, he added.
