Main accused in explosive seizure case held

He will be produced in a local court in Udupi today

A team of Udupi district police arrested Biju, the main accused in the seizure of explosives in and around Karkala town last month, at Gurgaon near Delhi on Sunday. M.B. Boralingaiah, Superintendent of Police, told The Hindu on Monday that the polic team was expected to return to Udupi on Tuesday.

“He will be produced in a local court here. We will seek his custody,” he said.

About 95 tonnes of ammonium nitrate, 90,000 detonators, 1,200 gelatin sticks and 23,000 metres of safety fuse wires were confiscated from in and around Karkala town between March 25 and April 7, Mr. Boralingaiah said.
