Three students of a medical college in Deralakatte escaped unhurt after their car fell 10 feet off the road into marshy land.
The Ullal police said the students were heading towards Mangalore. Before reaching the Nethravati bridge, the student, driving the car, lost control and the vehicle fell off the road and overturned.
It took about 30 minutes for them to come out the car. Vehicles stopped at the spot and traffic was affected for nearly an hour, the police said.
Judicial custodyA woman, arrested on Thursday for allegedly assaulting a Traffic Sub-Inspector, has been remanded to judicial custody till July 28.
Kinjal Bishaf Bai Gandhi (26), a lecturer in a college in Kasaragod, reportedly picked up an argument with sub-inspector Bhavya near Hampankatta circle after she had been stopped for driving a two-wheeler without a helmet.
Ms. Gandhi reportedly slapped Ms. Bhavya and was booked for offences 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant for discharging duty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code.
The police produced Ms. Gandhi before the 2nd Judicial Magistrate First Class court that remanded her in judicial custody.
Woman run over by trainA 35-year-old woman was run over by a train near Ullal Railway station on Saturday. According to Government Railway Police, Lalita of Someshwar was on her way to a hotel, where she works as a dishwasher.
She reportedly did not see the train and was hit while crossing the tracks.
