Former Team India cricketer Syed Kirmani said on Monday said that the lack of sincerity and honesty prevailing everywhere had affected the game of cricket. He was speaking after inaugurating the new cricket pitch at the Silas International School here.
Mr. Kirmani said that cricket was no longer a gentleman’s game.
The T-20 format would not have any impact on one-day and test cricket. Team India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not just a good wicket keeper and batsman but also a successful captain, he said.
It was necessary to provide basic facilities for sports in every school and college.
Future leaders including those intending to become doctors and engineers should be shaped in homes and schools, he said.
‘Spot talent’It was incumbent on parents and teachers to spot talent and skill in their children and encourage them.
Children should understand that they could taste success only if they put in hard work. Good hobbies went a long way in making people good human beings, Mr. Kirmani said.
