Sahamatha Film Society will screen Kurdish film ‘Bekas’ at Karavali Lekhakiyara, Vachakiyara Sangha building at Urva Store on Monday at 6.15 p.m.
Its secretary Ivan D’Silva said in a release that the film, written and directed by Karzan Kader, was made in 2012. It revolves around two boys, who undertake a journey to America on their donkey named Michael Jackson.
Set in the devastated Iraq in early 1990s, the film is about the life of homeless brothers Zana, 7, and Dana, 10 for whom survival is difficult. When they watch Superman through a hole in the wall at the local cinema, they decide to live in America with Superman who will not only end all their miseries but punish all those who made them suffer including then President Saddam Hussein. Though Dana has a plan to get money, passports, the duo cannot arrange them. But they do not give up. They decide to follow their dream.
