K.S. Hegde Hospital gets neurosciences research centre

A super specialty services centre for services and research in neurosciences was inaugurated at the Justice K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital, Deralakatte, near here.

K. Narayan Shetty, cardiologist from Pittsburgh, USA, who sponsored the centre in memory of his wife Leela Narayan Shetty, inaugurated the facility on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shetty said he would continue the charity for the cause of neurology and cancer treatment. Nitte University Chancellor N. Vinay Hegde said the centre, established at a cost of Rs. 10 crore, has several unique facilities which are not available elsewhere in the region or in Kerala. It has dedicated equipment for early diagnosis of neurological disorders which affect vision.

The former Lokayukta, N. Santosh Hegde, Neena Shetty, daughter of Narayan Shetty, Pro-Chancellor M.Shantaram Shetty and others were present.
