Krishnapura tense after assaults

Tension prevailed in Katipalla Krishnapura following the assault on Taslim Arif (29), a resident of Katipalla, on Tuesday night.

The police said two motorcycle-borne men waylaid Taslim Arif and hit him with a sharp object on his right hand.

Taslim Arif was taken to a private hospital in Mukka.

On hearing about the incident, a large number of people gathered in the area to condemn the attack.

Police Commissioner R. Hithendra and other police officials rushed to the spot with additional force.

Mr. Hithendra said one person, who was caught after a chase by a police sub-inspector, was being questioned in connection with the incident.

Other attacks

Yogish, 35, a newspaper vendor, was stabbed on his back by two motorcycle-borne men near a bar in Bunder on Monday night. He has been admitted to a private hospital in Kuntikana.

Vinay Kumar, 25, a native of Kadaba, was stabbed by a few men near a hotel in Surathkal police station limits on Monday night.

Kumar, who works in Kulai, was staying in a paying guest accommodation in Surathkal.

The police said Kumar was attacked when he was riding back from a coaching centre.

Arrest over assault

The Bajpe police have arrested 32-year-old Yayaha for allegedly assaulting Ranjit (22) when he was returning home on his motorcycle on Sunday evening.

Ranjit alleged that he suffered injuries after he fell into a ditch while running away from a person who attacked him near Antony Katte.
