Koushik, Gangamma emerge champions

Overnight leaders Girish A. Koushik and B.N. Gangamma, both from Mysore, won the titles for boys and girls at the Karnataka State under-13 FIDE-rated Chess Championship 2010, which concluded on Friday at Sharada Vidyalaya here. They received Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 2,000 in cash respectively.

Koushik defeated Akshay Bharadwaj of Bangalore on the top board while Gangamma humbled Andrila L. D'Souza of Mangalore.

This year five toppers in the boys' category and two in girls' category will be representing the State at the national meet, which will be held in Pondicherry.
