Konkani writer Victor Rodrigues Angelore (66), whose writing “inspired many people to read Konkani periodicals”, died at a hospital here on Monday from lung cancer.
He is survived by his wife and three children, who live in Bendore.
Mr. Agelore wrote 22 novels and five plays. Edward Nazareth, a friend of the late writer, said that his works “Paap Ani Shiraap” and “Pratikar”, which appeared in the weekly Poinnari as a serial for several years, were very popular. They were later published as novels.
Another close associate of Mr. Angelore, Pius Pinto, managing trustee of Samanvaya, described the late writer as a person with “a fantastic imagination”.
