The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will begin verifying the documents of students seeking admission to various professional higher education courses at its helpline centre at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Adyar, here on Wednesday.

The verification of documents of general students will go on till June 23, except on June 9 which will be holiday, said Jagajeevandas Bhandary P, Nodal Officer, KEA, Mangalore helpline centre.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Mr. Bhandary said that the verification of documents of students seeking admission under physically disabled and National Cadet Corps (NCC) and sports quota would be done only in Bangalore on June 4 and on June 5, he said.

Helpline centre in Mangalore is among 13 such centres in the State. Students could get their documents verified at any of the centres in the State. Documents would be verified based on the Common Entrance Test ranks of students fixed for verification for a particular day.

For example, documents of students of ranks from one to 2,000 would be verified on Wednesday across the 13 helpline centres in four sessions. Students would have to report at the centre an hour before the verification begins in each session for registration.

He said that students must bring two passport-size photographs, CET admission ticket, marks cards of SSLC and pre-university and study certificate. Those seeking admission under different categories would have to bring both income and caste certificates.

Change of category allowed

Change of category during the verification round is allowed in the helpline centre here, said nodal officer Jagajeevandas Bhandary P. He said that while applying for the CET some students could have mentioned their category wrong in the application form due to ignorance. Such students could change their category during the verification provided they produced valid documents for it. Last year a nodal officer did not enjoy the power to change the category at any helpline centre. The nodal officer had to contact the KEA at Bangalore for each individual cases to get the category changed there itself. This year, the helpline centres have been empowered with changing the category of students.
