KCCI gets first woman president

Latha R. Kini was unanimously elected president of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mangalore, at the 70th annual general meeting on Thursday, according to a press release issued here.

Proprietrix of Pilot Paints, Ms. Kini, who will be the chamber's 48th president, is the first woman to be elected president of the chamber since its inception in 1940. She has been a member of the committee of the chamber since 2003 and has served as its vice-president, treasurer, secretary and the editor of its monthly journal for two years.

Other office-bearers

The other office-bearers are Mohammed Ameen, vice-president, M. Ganesh Bhat, honorary treasurer, Rammohan Pai Maroor and Sudhir P. Ghate, honorary secretaries. Twelve managing committee members were also elected at the meeting.
