Kavita Trust poetry festival on Sunday

Kavita Trust, which works for the promotion of Konkani poetry, will organise its annual poetry festival Kavita Fest – the ninth in the series – on January 11 at Chowlikere, Barkur, Udupi. There will also be recitation of Tamil, English and Tulu poems.

Retired diplomat Pascal Alan Nazareth will inaugurate it. Maxim Lobo’s book of essays on poetry will be released. Iqbal Sayeedi from Bhatkal will be awarded with the Mathias Family Poetry Award.

A poetry session will be presided by poet Purnananda Chari. CGS Taccode, Felcy Lobo, Jnandev Mallya, Neelba Khandekar, Yogini Acharya and Eric Soans will recite their Konkani poems, Salma from Chennai will recite Tamil poems, and V.K. Yadav Tulu poems, a release from the trust said. It will feature an interaction session with Sahitya Akademi award winning poet Ramesh Veluskar.

Basti Vaman Shenoy, president, Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation, and Naveen Dias, president, The Expressions, will be the guests for the inauguration.

Goan poet Madhav Borcar will be the chief guest for the valedictory.
