Judicial training and conferences have delayed hearing on the bail plea of 38 persons arrested and sent to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the violence in Kalladka more than two weeks ago.

24 Muslim men and 14 Hindu men were arrested after a group clash in Kalladka on June 30. The bail plea was due to be heard on July 9, but the hearing had been deferred because of the prior commitments of the Principal District Judge. “The hearing will happen on Tuesday,” said a lawyer for the arrested.
