Leaders and workers of the district unit of Janata Dal (Secular) offered their prayers at Sri Ananteshwara Temple here on the 54th birthday of their party leader and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Sunday.

A cake was cut at the district office of the JD(S) here.

The former MLA U.R. Sabhapathi said the JD(S) would put up an excellent show in the next Assembly elections. “That would be the best birthday gift we can give to Mr. Kumaraswamy,” he said.

The JD(S) was strengthening itself from the booth-level to the Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC) to fight the next elections. There would be a massive political change in Udupi district and the State in the coming days, Mr. Sabhapathi said.

JD(S) district unit president Deviprasad Shetty, president of the district women’s wing of JD(S) Shalini Shetty Kenchanur, president of district youth wing of JD(S) Vasudeva Rao, and JD(S) leaders Annayya Nayak Patla, Louis Lobo, Jayakumar Parkala, and Shantharam were present.
