Stating that it was rather a Paschatapa (Repentance) Rally by the Bharatiya Janata Party and not a rally for parivartan (change), Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said that the Congress has not planned any such rally ahead of the 2018 Assembly polls.

Instead, he would be touring the entire State starting in the near future to enlighten people about the achievements of the Congress government since 2013. Mr. Siddaramaiah was speaking to reporters at the airport on his arrival in the city. The Congress would be organising public meetings across the State to reach out to people, he added. The BJP had claimed that more than three lakh people would attend the inaugural of the Parivartan Rally in Bengaluru; but hardly 20,000 people attended making it one of the biggest flop shows, Mr. Siddaramaiah said.

SIT probe

Mr. Siddaramaiah said that the government is contemplating handing over investigation of illegal mining to a special investigation team (SIT) since the Central Bureau of Investigation has said that there is no evidence in the case. It is a scam of over ₹ 25,000 crore. “We have to discuss the matter in detail,” he added.
