Injured leopard dies

An injured male leopard which was brought to Dr. Shivaram Karanth Biological Park, Pilikula, from Padaru village in Bantwal taluk on Thursday died on Friday morning, according to director of the park H. Jayaprakash Bhandary.

Authorities of the park and Forest Department officials had rescued after he was found entangled in a snare laid for wild boars.

Mr. Bhandary told The Hindu post-mortem on the animal revealed that its intestine and urinary bladder had ruptured. And the leopard suffered head injuries and his eyes were pierced. The director said the leopard suffered head injuries probably because of stones hurled by people of the village.
