Hadia, student of second year Pre-University Course, submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner N.S. Channappa Gowda on Thursday but came away “upset”.
Ms. Hadia, who was in tears, said she apprised the Deputy Commissioner of her predicament and had requested him to take action so that she could be allowed to go back to the college. She said: “I had hoped that he would either say ‘yes' or ‘no' (to whether she could go to college). I had come with that hope, but now I am upset.”
“This is a secular country. I have my religious rights. I want to fight this out,” she said. Earlier, Mr. Gowda had spoken to journalists and questioned the presence of “organisations” with Ms. Hadia. “Why are these organisations behind her? She could have approached (authorities) directly,” Mr. Gowda said. He added that if Ms. Hadia made a representation, he could seek a response from the college.
