I will tackle the Speaker, says Poojary

January 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - MANGALURU:

Senior Congress leader B. Janardhana Poojary said here on Wednesday that he will “tackle” Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa in the matter pertaining to the latter reportedly criticising the functioning of the State government and its Ministers.

To a question at a press conference here, he said he would not complain to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) over the issue. “I will tackle him,” he said.

Mr. Poojary alleged that the Speaker had crossed his boundaries by asking why there was a government in the State.

He did not have the right to put such a question to a government elected by the people. He was violating the rules of a Speaker, Mr. Poojary alleged.

The former Union Minister of State for Finance said the Speaker was acting like an Opposition. Mr. Poojary criticised the Speaker for reportedly asking who Mr. Poojary was to question him (Speaker).

Mr. Poojary claimed that he got the ticket to Mr. Thimmappa to contest the Assembly election.
