Hephsiba Korlapati in verbal exchange

January 03, 2015 10:33 am | Updated November 16, 2021 05:21 pm IST - MANGALURU:

There was a verbal duel between president of the State Safai Karamchari Commission Narayan and Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati over the latter’s “refusal” to enter the Safai Karamcharis quarters in Jeppu Mahakali Padpu on Friday, along with him. Mr. Narayan visited a few quarters in Pandeshwar and then proceeded to the quarters in Jeppu Mahakali Padpu.

Mr. Narayan asked Ms. Korlapati to accompany him during his visit to the quarters that are in a dilapidated state. Ms. Korlapati said that she would visit the quarters on Saturday morning after going through the files. Mr. Narayan then went ahead to see the quarters.

He returned and once again asked Ms. Korlapati to visit the quarters. When she gave him the same reply, Mr. Narayan accused her of not following rules and accompanying him on his visit. He also objected to her speaking over her mobile phone, to which Ms. Korlapati replied that she was speaking to a corporation official.

Then, Mr. Narayan left the place stating that he would report the conduct of the official to the State government. Ms. Korlapati too left the place immediately even as residents of the quarters felt that she could have accompanied Mr. Narayan into the buildings to see the state of their houses for herself.
