Heavy rain early on Friday caused severe damage in several parts of Dakshina Kannada district.

Lightning also damaged the newly constructed public open well in Mukwe near Puttur built at a cost of ₹3.5 lakh. The district control room received a complaint from a resident of Mulihitlu about water entering the house. The fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the place.
