Amid several shortcomings including programmes missing the schedule during the first two days, the concluding day of Vishwa Tuluvere Parba on Sunday saw thousands of people enthusiastically participating in various events.
Cloudy atmosphere and rain had also contributed to the dampening of the Parba spirit on Friday and Saturday. However, the sunny sky on Sunday enhanced the spirit of the Tuluvas who enthusiastically joined in the Parba. More than the academic sessions, people seemed to be interested in the other attractions of the festival, including exhibitions, demonstrations, traditional sports and the boating.
The premises of Sahyadri College of Engineering at Adyar brimming with people. People from across the State, as well as the neighbouring Maharashtra and Kerala and those residing abroad participated in the Parba. A large audience was seen during the presentation of the Tuttaita, Bale Telipale, Tuluvere Isiri and other cultural activities on the main stage. Local sports such as wrestling — which commenced by evening on the ground bordering the Nethravati — and Kabaddi, rope pulling too witnessed heavy patronage. Hundreds of participants also enjoyed boating on the Nethravati.
The stretch of Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway abutting the Sahyadri campus witnessed slow movement of traffic on Sunday as all roads from Mangaluru and neighbouring places led to the Parba venue. Traffic police and volunteers had to struggle hard to ensure vehicles were parked properly even as they had a herculean task in ensuring the smooth flow of traffic on the highway.
